2008: 76. The Unpleasantness At The Bellona Club

“What in the world, Wimsey, are you doing in his Morgue?” demanded Captain Fentiman, flinging aside the “Evening Banner” wth the air of a man released from an irksome duty.”

The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club, Dorothy L. Sayers

Another Lord Peter mystery - this one turning on just when an old man died.  If he died after his previously estranged big sister, he (well his heirs) will inherit millions, but if he died first, they get nothing.  Wimsey, who is friends with the grandsons of the dead man, takes on the case thinking it is just a question of time of death, and then finds out that it might actually be a question of murder.  The murder is clever (and the suspect satisfying), the solution apt (even if, once again, the murderer resorts to suicide as the only way to catch him), and Peter is as charming as ever.
