2010: 109. Unseen Academicals

Unseen Academicals, Terry Pratchett

I cannot believe how long its been since I’ve read any Pratchett! According to my blog, the last Pratchett I read was in 2008, before Nate was born - must remedy that, for I do love him so, even when he’s working on one of my less favorite areas of his Discworld.  Unseen Academicals is about the wizards at the Unseen University, and about sport (and the Discworld version, therein).  The last Pratchett I read that focused on the wizards was The Last Continent, and I really wasn’t much of a fan, so I put this one off for quite a while.  Big mistake.  Though this is a wizard book, it is very much in the vein of his later works, with the feisty women and the big hearted men, and the learning about tolerance for new peoples and all the big ideas that float through what otherwise pretend to be silly fantasy novels.  Great fun, and I need to get back on the Pratchett horse.
